When you think of Disney Destinations you probably instantly imagine the American Disney Parks. Walt Disney World and its four parks, and Disneyland. Maybe you think of Disney Cruise Line or the Disney parks on other continents. Did you know there is actually 5 different categories of Disney Destinations?
Disney offers so much more than theme parks for travelers with all kinds of tastes. Having recently gone through training on Disney Destinations to become a travel advisor, I thought it'd be fun to do a brief breakdown of each one for all of you! You'll have to tell me in the comments which catches your eye the most.
Walt Disney World Resort
Walt Disney World Resort is home to the most visited theme parks in the world. Visiting Walt Disney World is almost like a rite of passage in American culture. What makes this resort unique is how many offerings are contained within the "Disney bubble." 4 World Class theme parks, 21 hotels, a shopping district and more, compose the full resort area. What can I really say about it? It's the iconic, keystone attraction of the Walt Disney Company and visited by millions of people from around the world every year. It's so much more than just another theme park or hotel, it's a place where core memories are made. The Most Magical Place on Earth!
It can take over a week to truly get a taste of all Walt Disney World has to offer. It's not feasible to plan just a couple days to see all the must-do things that make a Disney vacation what it is. For many, this is a once in a lifetime vacation that is saved up for and maximized. For others this is a yearly quick trip where they take in new elements every single time. If you've never, been I recommend about 5 days minimum for most families.
It can be quite a lot of work to plan a vacation to this destination because there is so much to see and do, and specific guidelines on how to do it. These trips are why I became a travel agent, I've spent the time learning how to do a Walt Disney World Vacation and I want to use that knowledge to help people have a smooth and memorable trip. You can get lost in a sea of Disney content while the FOMO piles on! However, the cost of a TA is included in your vacation package, at all Disney Destinations, so I highly recommend you take advantage of that service. I hope you'll think of me when you do.
Disneyland Resort
"Walt's park" the original Disney theme park, revolutionary for so many reasons and a cultural icon. It's composed of two parks, the eponymous Disneyland and the newer Disney's California Adventure, and 3 hotels. Though it is more compact it is considered just as magical as Walt Disney World, and was the only park Walt himself was alive to walk through. There are attractions and experiences that can only be found in this Anaheim, CA based park and is the place that started it all. Its intimate, and full of the things that you think of when you think Disney. The Happiest Place on Earth!
It can definitely take a vacation worth of time to fully explore this park, but you can also take it a bit slower than its east coast cousin. One thing that makes Disneyland special and can complicate booking your package is all the limited time special events that only happen at this park like, Oogie Boogie Bash, Pride Nite, Sweethearts Night, Festival of the Holidays. These can sell out fast, but it's so fun to visit during one of these exclusive events. I can help with making sure you get one of those coveted tickets!
Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line is the most magical cruise line on earth! The innovative and immersive dining options, character meet and greets, themed nights and entertainment truly gives you the full Disney experience at sea. There are 6 different Disney vessels that all offer different experiences. The newest ship, the Disney Treasure, just had its debut sailing and has some exciting exclusive dining and shows. There also at least 4 more ships on the way in the next five years, with upcoming sailings to leave from Japan and Singapore! This line is known for all you can eat soft serve, Disney attractions at sea (that means theme park style rides!), magical theming and touches you will not see anywhere else at sea. Including Disney's private island, Castaway Cay that many sailings will stop at in the Bahamas.
Disney Cruises are a perfect family getaway option! If you're a fan of cruises and want a family atmosphere and Disney level service, you cannot go wrong. Many cruises have family sections, and kids' activities but Disney Cruises truly include everyone in the family from start to finish. If the number of sailings, ports, routes and vessels is overwhelming, I've got you covered. We can work together to find the absolute ideal cruise for you. Also, if you want to be among the firs on the newest ship; the Disney Treasure, you can count on a travel advisor to help you make that happen. I mean who doesn't want to eat at a Haunted Mansion themed eatery? I certainly would be a happy haunt if I had the chance.
Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa
Aulani, Disney's premiere resort and spa in Oahu, Hawaii is the perfect blend of local culture and charm and Disney Magic. Disney has done a great job incorporating Hawaiian aesthetics, cuisine, and culture into this gorgeous resort. You can relax at the spa, visit the beach, enjoy pools, movie nights, character events and even snorkel in an artificial reef on the resort property. I especially love that last detail because you can have a wildlife encounter in a way that is safe to you and ecosystem of Hawaii.
This is very small property by comparison to the cruise ships and theme parks! Its intimate environment, excellent dining and magical touches make it an excellent family vacation, but also a relaxing place for just grown-ups to visit. Though not ALL inclusive there are many included activities and experiences. I'd love to help plan your island getaway!
Adventures by Disney
Adventures by Disney is Disney's line of more premium, smaller group land packages, river cruises and expedition cruises. Groups that undertake one of these adventures will go with Adventure Guides that will shape their experience with their expertise. These packages are engineered to include the whole family on a more in-depth, cultural journey. There are longer trips, and a shorter version, called an Escape, that can cap off a Disney Cruise Line experience or supplement a longer trip. You can visit destinations all over the world including North America in an intimate group setting.
These trips can only be booked by calling Disney directly and discussing options with a representative. Though most adventures go out of the way to include kids, there's also adult exclusive options. If you want insider access to iconic cultural destinations all with that Disney-level service and magic and are planning on a premium travel experience this may be your kind of trip. These are definitely on my bucket list! Especially an adventure to Australia!
All 5 of these kinds of vacations offer so much! Many people see Disney as only the parks, but these options open up an entire world (literally, not just a Disney World) of possibilities. Beyond characters and nostalgia, Disney offers beautifully designed experience and world class service unlike anything else. Plus, with a travel advisor on your side, you're in for a magical and stress free vacation.
